Around 850 companies are members of the Organisation, collectively employing around 700,000 people, about half of all tech sector jobs in the UK. They have established themselves as the voice of the tech industry in UK, the ‘go-to’ organisation for industry players, government, regulators and influencers and other stakeholders in the digital economy. In 2020 they will be rebranding to position themselves and their members as the essential organisation for the UK to become the digital nation of significance and a globally successful tech enabled economy. They want to own the story and set the pace of UK’s transformation to a high skill value country in the next decade.
Purpose
This role reports to the Head of Programme – Cyber, and its purpose is to support the Cyber Security Programme. This challenging and wide-ranging position provides an opportunity to work with senior level representatives from industry and Government to support the development and implementation of a challenging agenda. The role will encompass the support and development of market engagement and policy activities related to the UK Cyber Security sector.
This role would suit an enthusiastic learner with the ability to support the development of new policy and the delivery of projects and events. The successful candidate will demonstrate the capability to work across multiple different workstreams and will develop a good understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the UK cyber sector. The role requires someone who has the confidence and drive to grow their own profile and that of the Organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Present the Organisation as the voice of the technology industry to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Cabinet Office, Department for International Trade and wider UK Government
- Support the development, implementation and communication of the Cyber Security activities in a way that meets the needs of existing and potential new members
- Lead the development, implementation, execution and management of projects, white papers, workshops, programme events, briefings and meetings
- Promote the Cyber Security Programme through insights, opinions, social media activities and PR activities
- Liaise with other teams to identify and exploit cross-fertilisation opportunities
- Support the work of the Cyber Security Management Committee and other relevant forums, maintaining liaison with group members
- Deputise for the Head of Programme in their absence
- Any other duties that might from time to time be required

Essential Knowledge and Experience
- Strong interest in cyber security, innovation, and the UK tech industry
- Experience of managing relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and comfortable working with senior individuals in industry
- Comfortable with public speaking
Desired Knowledge and Experience
- Demonstrates an understanding of the Cyber Security sector and the positioning and role of trade bodies
- Good high-level knowledge of technology and workings of the technology sector
- Strong understanding of the UK Cyber Security landscape, including knowledge of the Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy and its implications for the wider economy
- Understand the economic, social and political environment, members’ business sectors and business models, stakeholders and their drivers
