The Role
We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic, and driven individual to manage, support and drive forward our digital identity programme of work. This role will give the right candidate opportunities to work with a wide range of senior industry figures and policy makers working to help ensure the adoption and deployment of digital identity technologies can grow and scale in the UK.

Digital identity programme overview

The digital identity work programme is part of techUK’s Technology and Innovation work. The aim of the Digital Identity programme is to raise awareness and showcase the benefits of digital identity, whilst also determining solutions to some of the key challenges experienced across the digital id sector.
The digital identity programme delivers a packed programme of meetings, events, webinars, and workshops, to convene industry and key stakeholders to drive progress on key issues such as: interoperability, social inclusivity, governance, and liability.
To support the growth of the current digital identity market and help build public trust and confidence in this technology, techUK works closely with government officials on the development of key government initiatives, such as the creation of UK Government’s Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework.

Purpose
This role provides an opportunity to work with senior level representatives from industry and government to support the development and implementation of a challenging agenda. The successful candidate will lead the development of techUK’s related policy activity, with a particular focus on establishing opportunities for members to demonstrate the transformational impact digital identity can have on the wider economy and society.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion and represent the views of techUK and its members during engagements with government departments and key stakeholders. Build and maintain relationships with key government departments, including the Department for Digital, Cultural, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Government Digital Service (GDS).
  • Run techUK’s Digital Identity Working Group to identify and address current market challenges, whilst promoting the benefits of digital ID. This includes delivering a packed programme of events, briefings, meetings and workshops, convening industry and key stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and management of projects, white papers, policy positions, briefings and consultation responses that aim to resolve shared challenges between the technology industry and the wider economy.
  • Liaise with other techUK teams to identify opportunities to work and engage with other relevant member focused programmes.

Competencies

  • A quick learner who is able to pick up and understand a range of complex policy and regulatory issues related to digital identity.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical and policy information effectively to a range of audiences.
  • A team player who is comfortable working with senior individuals in industry and government.
  • A self-motivated individual with a positive can-do approach who can manage competing demands and has experience in responding to tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and presenting.
  • Ability to use the tools and technologies techUK provides including but not limited to: Microsoft Office 365, CRM, mobile and home working software, web tools and social media.

This role profile is a guide to the work that is required but does not form part of any contract of employment and may change from time to time to reflect changing circumstances.
