Job Title: Production Supervisor
Location: Shoreham-by-Sea
Salary: £38,000 – £43,000
Job Type: Permanent / Full time
Job Purpose:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for delivering the production plan through the effective leadership of people, quality, velocity, and cost.
Main Responsibilities:
- Leading and motivating the production team including assembly, paint, and fabrication.
- Managing and developing the Lead Technicians to ensure they are coordinating their teams and resources in an effective and efficient manner to meet on time delivery while achieving quality and safety standards.
- Planning workloads to meet business plan commitments.
- Recruiting, onboarding and training new team members and carrying out probationary reviews.
- Maintaining the skills matrix including regular one-to-ones with team members.
- Identifying skill requirements and training needs.
- Holding regular team meetings.
- Developing an effective team with strong cross functional relationships.
- Carrying out various people management activities e.g., low-level employee relations (investigations/disciplinaries) and absence management.
- Ensuring team members follow defined production/manufacturing procedures and comply with quality and safety standards.
- Manage people and resources in an efficient and effective manner to meet on time delivery while achieving quality and safety standards.
- Investigating and resolving quality issues identified through in-process inspection, customer complaints, or internal non-conformance notice processes.
- Monitoring and managing planned vs actual hours.
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coaching and supporting the team in daily problem solving.
- Enabling effective communications between management and team members.
- Always demonstrating our Company values.
- Complying with all Company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Carrying out other reasonable duties requested by management.
About you:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in motivating and managing a team, executing production or manufacturing-based projects, as well as have a good understanding of health and safety practices. Having experience in the Oil and Gas or Materials Handling industry would be advantageous but not vital.
They will also have:
- Experience of working in a bespoke, project-based production or manufacturing environment
- Have a basic understanding of health and safety practices
- Good IT skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Good verbal and written communication and active listening skills
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan workloads effectively to meet deadlines
- Confident approach but always respectful to others with a high level of integrity
- Adaptable and flexible approach
- Able to demonstrate a structured approach to solving problems
