Job Title: Production Planner/Estimator
Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire, UK
Salary: Depending on experience
Working Hours: 8:30am – 17:00pm Mon-Fri

The Company: Seddon Boxes is a small family-run packaging company, specialising in manufacturing rigid presentation boxes and jigsaw puzzles.
The role:
- The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to enable the business to achieve delivery targets, as well as helping to improve operational organisation, cost, and efficiencies.
- Initially the job role will focus on the implementation and maintenance of a production planning system, after which the role will develop to include assistance in producing quotations.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Schedule work for production, issuing a weekly production plan.
- Plan and prioritise manufacturing operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay.
- Review and update production plans based on downtime or material delays.
- Determine running hours, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demand.
- Analysis of manufacturing data to provide reports on production capacity.
- Maintaining a clear oversight of material availability and costs.
- Maximise customer service level via effective communication with the Account Managers and Office Administration.
- Drive improvements in demand planning processes, including systems solutions.
- Measure and report conformance to production plans to enable the business to maintain customer service level.
- Monitor manufacturing KPI’s.
- Gaining an understanding of job forecasting and material costs in order to produce quotations.
- Assign operators and other warehouse staff to particular production operations.
The Candidate:
- Proven experience in production planning within a manufacturing environment.
- Organised, detail oriented, methodical and with strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Computer literate with a working knowledge of Excel.
- Broad knowledge of forecasting, product distribution, inventory control and production capacity.
- The ability to work flexibly under pressure, prioritise own workload and work on initiative.
- Able to remain calm, patient and polite in challenging situations.
- Excellent verbal communications skills with the ability to confidently relay information to colleagues.
