Job Title: Lead Buyer
Location: Chelmsford
Salary: £28,000-30,000 per year depending on experience
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time. Please note that this role will be Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm – based at our office in Great Baddow. You must be a Driver with permanent access to a car as we are not accessible in any way via public transport!

Position will include but are not limited to:
Duties:
Sourcing and Supplier Management:
- Identify potential suppliers and maintain a robust supplier database.
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, price, and reliability.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and resolve issues.
Negotiation and Contracts:
- Negotiate favourable terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Draft, review, and manage procurement contracts and agreements.
- Monitor contract performance and address any deviations or disputes.
Procurement Process Management:
- Plan and execute procurement strategies that align with company objectives.
- Coordinate procurement activities across departments to ensure efficient and timely procurement of goods and services.
- Oversee the entire procurement lifecycle, from requisition to payment.
Cost Management:
- Monitor and control procurement expenses to achieve cost savings and budgetary targets.
- Implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality or service.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Implement best practices for ethical sourcing and sustainability.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Collect and analyse procurement data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Generate regular reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and vendor performance.
Required:
- Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, with a track record of successful vendor relationships and cost savings.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of procurement software and tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Desired:
- Maths & English GCSE at Grade C or above.
- Qualification in Purchasing/Procurement & Supply.
