About us:
The City of Lincoln is looking to recruit an experienced Principal and Internal Auditor to join our in-house Internal Audit team. Both posts are advertised as full time 37 hrs a week, applications for fewer hours will be considered for both as will different working patterns. Please specify this on your application. We operate a hybrid approach to working, working remotely at home and within City Hall, the specifics of which are negotiable.
We require applicants for both posts to have an awareness and knowledge of Local Government and internal audit methodologies and standards (PSIAS). Experience in working in Internal audit is essential although this is not limited to Local Government audit. Applicants also need to be able to communicate effectively and be able to use Information Technology particularly Microsoft products.
The positions involve undertaking a range of audits throughout the Council including scoping, designing audit programmes, testing, reporting and discussing the findings of the review with auditees including senior management. The post holders will also provide support in work related to counter fraud, fraud investigation and whistleblowing.
Principal – Salary Scale PO1B £37,589 – £40,844
The Principal role involves managing the day-to-day work of the Internal Auditor and others including support, performance management, review and quality control. It also involves deputising for the Audit Manager when required and supporting the Audit Manager to prepare the audit plan, resource plan and performance reports for the Audit Committee.
You will also be required to carry out audits which are often more complex or technical.
For this post you will need to be a member of one of the CCAB Accountancy Bodies or hold an equivalent membership. We will consider exceptional candidates who are members of the AAT or equivalent or studying towards a CCAB qualification.
Internal Auditor – Salary scale SO2 £33,161 – £35,006
The Internal Auditor role involves delivering the audit assignments which cover the breadth of the Council services. This will entail ensuring that performance measures are met, managing own time as well as producing reports and agreeing actions.
For this post you need to be a member of the AAT or hold an equivalent qualification. We will consider exceptional candidates who are studying towards a relevant qualification.
