Job Title: Principal Auditor

Salary: £35,555 – £38,728 per annum

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, proactive Unit which enjoys full operational independence within the Council, and is a well-established in house provider of the full range of internal audit services to the Corporate Authority and Strategic Directors. The Council is moving towards an enterprising council approach and operates in a rapidly changing environment with increasing demands on reducing resources which requires innovative solutions to service delivery. Audit Services provide a valuable contribution to this agenda whilst seeking to ensure that risks are well managed and effective controls are in place.
Role Overview:
As a Principal Auditor you will deliver a wide range of complex audits for which you will be required to research and develop project briefs which provide the scope and coverage required to meet Audit objectives. Audit Services provide advice and guidance on controls, new initiatives and developments working with a variety of stakeholders, therefore you will need the ability to develop productive and positive working relationships.
Excellent communication skills are key to this role as you will be required to communicate findings and recommendations to Managers at all levels. You will have an ongoing staff management and development role, together with the opportunity to contribute to the continued professional development of the Unit.

You should hold an appropriate, relevant professional qualification, be able to demonstrate recent, relevant internal audit experience at a senior level working within a large, complex and diverse organisation, preferably within the Public Sector.
They should have a proven record of achievement and the ability to work both on their own initiative and as part of a team delivering high quality output, within assigned budgets, across the full spectrum of the Council’s services including schools and establishments.
