Job Title: Plant Procurement & Through-Life Support Engineer

The company is established as one of the world’s most productive and technically advanced ports.
They are currently looking for a suitably qualified and experienced engineer to act as a focal point for all mobile plant procurement and the through-life engineering support of both mobile and fixed plant across the estate.
The Role:
The role will include working with our in-house maintenance and operations teams to select and procure fit-for-purpose and certified equipment to support the Port’s commercial requirements. Follow-on tasks will ensure sufficient special-to-type maintenance training, servicing schedules, technical manuals and spares support are in place.
Further responsibilities will include understanding, quantifying and designing mitigations for plant equipment safety hazards (including potentially on ship-to-shore cranes and large bulk handling equipment), determining pre-use inspection requirements and arranging third party LOLER and detailed five-yearly inspections. You will also be responsible for overseeing disposal activity and ensuring appropriate environmental regulations are adhered to.
Understanding through-life support, you will investigate all equipment failures and incidents to ensure safety and be comfortable, in time, in holding equipment safety delegations. You will also ensure the engineering asset management system (Pirana) for the Port is supported for use by technical maintenance teams.
The Candidate:
- Engineering Degree/HND or significant mobile plant/support equipment. Management experience.
- Chartered Engineer preferred.
- Project Management training.
- Commercial procurement experience.
- Experience of fleet management and engineering asset management systems.
- Experience of a regulated safety critical engineering environment.
- Quality Management System experience.
A full driving licence and your own transport are essential.
