The Role
DB Cargo is on an ambitious journey to become Europe’s leading rail logistics provider with a long-term plan to shift traffic from roads, protect our climate and grow the economy.
We are currently recruiting for a Planning Delivery Assistant to join the Service Design team at Doncaster (with some flexibility around hybrid working). The role is to provide a day to day interface between the company, allocated customers, and Network Rail, principally for the acceptance and delivery of orders. The role is also Responsible for converting the customer demand/order into a workable efficient resource plan which is mutually beneficial to both customer and DB Cargo alike.
General Duties/Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and accept orders from allocated customers each week as agreed checking variations and identifying solutions to the customer for additional services.
- Work with Service Design Train Planning adhering to process and procedures for planning commercial services to ensure that the requirements of service level agreements are fulfilled.
- Produce and distribute service and terminal plan simplifiers to customers and operations as well as order confirmations.
- Maintain an overview of the efficiency of the planning and diagramming output to deliver an effective and efficient product.
- Process informed traveller information into the train plans to ensure that all engineering disruption is managed accordingly.
- Work in partnership with the relevant company stakeholders, produce and distribute workable efficient plans and diagrams which meet the needs of the customer and make efficient use of driver, locomotive and wagon resources.
- Bid to Network Rail paths to ensure we have the network capacity to deliver the customer requirements.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Good communication skills to enable you to communicate with a wide range of colleagues.
- Planning and diagram experience preferred but not essential.
- Experience of IT applications BRP, CPT, TOPS 2000 preferred but not essential.
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
- Experience in a similar role or within the rail industry would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Methodical with good attention to detail to ability to identify efficiencies and innovative solutions.
In return, we are offering a starting set salary of £30,296, rising to £31,671 when the candidate is competent in the role. We also have a competitive benefits package which includes 25 days annual leave in addition to bank holidays, and a generous pension scheme.
