Job Title: Pharmacy Manager / Pharmacist

Salary: £51,480 – £60,840 per year (experience dependent)

The Role:
Morningside Pharmacy has been successfully running pharmacies in the Midlands for over 30 years. We are a family-run, group of eight independent pharmacies that has a strong relationship with our local communities based on care and great customer service.
We have both full and part time vacancies available between 19 hours and 45 hours per week to join our pharmacies with well set up and great teams, including fully trained and Trainee Pharmacist students.
The pharmacist manager will carry out day to day activities connected with the preparation and supply of medicines and will provide advice to patients on the use of medicines as well as on general health and lifestyle matters. The job holder will be responsible for the supervision and training of other pharmacy staff and will undertake activities that support the strategic objectives to maximise the profit and potential of the business.
The pharmacies currently deliver several wide ranges of services successfully (Flu, PQS, CPCS, NMS and PGD’s, GP-CPCS and NHS111 CPCS).
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- To abide by the General Pharmaceutical Council ‘Standards of conduct, ethics and performance’, observing and applying all professional, ethical and legal obligations.
- To dispense prescription medicines to patients, checking dosage and ensuring that medicines are correctly and safely labeled and supplied.
- To ensure that all dispensing errors and near misses are logged in accordance with the company’s procedures and to undertake rectification.
- To keep and maintain a register of controlled drugs for legal purposes.
- To liaise with doctors about prescriptions to ensure accuracy and prevent risk.
- To counsel and advise patients on the treatment of minor ailments and any adverse side-effects of medicines or potential interactions with other medicines/treatments to ensure safe use.
- To prepare monitored dosage and cassette box systems for the benefit patients.
- To provide specialist health check services, such as measuring and fitting compression hosiery, monitoring blood pressure and cholesterol levels, diabetes screening and pregnancy testing for the delivery of enhanced services to patients.
- To maintain computerised records in accordance with data protection principles to ensure patient confidentiality.
- To ensure that all present and future NHS contractual obligations in respect of essential service are adhered to.
Business Responsibilities:
- To manage supervise and train pharmacy support staff to attain optimum performance.
- To schedule labour effectively and communicate, direct and delegate to ensure that all employees operate as an effective team.
- To undertake budgeting and financial management activities to ensure rationalization of resources.
- To build and maintain relationships with other healthcare professionals, including GPs, GP surgery personnel, care home personnel, other NHS contractual staff etc.
The Candidate, Skills and Qualifications:
- An enthusiastic, highly motivated, dynamic and above all passionate about making a difference.
- An individual with a proven track record and a minimum of 3 years’ experience (or less -will be considered) as a qualified pharmacist.
