Job Title: Permitting & Support Manager
Location: Cambridge with travel to any of our sites
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum

Working Hours: 47.5 Hours Per Week
Envar is a producer and supplier of high quality soil improver, woodland garden mulch, wood chip and biomass. We operate green waste composting sites across England with sites in Surrey, Northamptonshire, West London, Essex, Kent and Suffolk as well as our flagship site in Cambridgeshire where we also process food waste.
About the role:
The Permitting Manager is responsible for permit applications, variations and adjustments as well as ensuring the organisation’s environmental compliance to its permits, undertaking statutory reporting, arranging required testing and inspection. This role plays a key part in maintaining regulatory adherence and driving continuous improvement. The position includes the creation of reports, assessments and proposals to support planning and permitting decisions including CEMP’s, OMP’s, FPP’s, BAT and Appropriate Measures Assessment etc. There is also limited reporting required against other permits such as RHI and Ofgem reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and recommend appropriate permits for the relevant operations within the group
- Apply for approved permits supplying all appropriate supporting documentation
- Create and develop supporting management systems and reports in conjunction with site and regional management
- Arrange for specialist reports to be created and delivered within appropriate timescales.
- Audit existing group permits to ensure compliance
- Arrange and manage required testing and inspection against permits and appropriate measures
- Report on non-conformance and recovery actions/mitigations
- Develop and create documents and reports to support the planning process where required
- Manage other professionals and the production of specialist reports where required

- Experience in collaboration with the permitting support centre or planning authority
- Analysis skills
- Degree in associated field
- Experience in auditing
- Competent communicator
- Competent with IMS systems and impartial auditing
