Company Overview:

The company is an innovative, market-leading law firm who specialise in commercial debt recovery and litigation. Based in modern offices on the outskirts of Guildford with ample parking, there is a vacancy in their focused, but friendly, legal department.

The Role:

  • To lead and direct the client operations of the company, to ensure clients receive quality service and performance, and ensure staff are motivated giving a consistent quality service to all clients
  • To be a proactive member of the company’s management team giving direction to the company and managing clients and corporate projects efficiently and effectively
  • To lead and develop their reputation in the credit industry, and safeguard operationally the integrity and trust held by clients in the company

Responsibilities:

  • Manage staff of the PreLegal, Legal and Commercial Litigation departments, ensuring a consistent quality of service at a reasonable cost to the client, and controlling and optimising the businesses fee-earning capacity. Ensure services are provided within legal and regulatory requirements
  • Managing staff resources, cases and process-integrity to ensure the workload is spread appropriately, and to ensure all cases are handled promptly, and within estimate
  • Leading and supporting the Legal Department Manager and the team with training and development
  • Managing and supervising the client service function so that all staff understand and practice in accordance with their stated service levels
  • Direct the development of the client database and ensuring regular customer care calls/visits are made
  • To manage Operational staff so as to increase their knowledge and effectiveness through training and building a strong effective team who enjoy their jobs and working with clients
  • To lead, manage and collaborate with all their managers and directors to ensure strong team performance and achievement of the company’s objectives and KPI’s
  • Work with the IT Manager to ensure there is development and improvements to their in-house system and processes

The Candidate:

  • Detailed knowledge of debt recovery and civil litigation procedures
  • Regulation and legislation affecting debt recovery and/or legal firms
  • A leader and strong people manager able and willing to hold people to account when company values, behaviours and objectives are not achieved
  • Passionate about the need to continuously improve quality across the business
  • A willingness to challenge “the norm” in favour of new ideas and better ways
  • Highly organised and able to meet strict deadlines and prioritise work
  • The ability to build relationships
  • The ability to make sound judgements and decisions to gain buy in
  • A keen eye for detail and an ability to spot when things don’t make sense and have a desire to question
  • High level of self-motivation and the ability to complete tasks with no supervision
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • Management experience within a legal firm or within the debt recovery industry
  • A current people manager who can demonstrate experience of managing challenging situations
  • Driving a culture of new ideas, best practices and new ways of working
  • Awareness of regulatory requirements that impact quality control in a legal firm or debt recovery environment
