Job Title: Blood Sciences Operations Manager with Pathology First

Location: Basildon

Salary: £52,306 – £60,983 per annum, dependent on experience

Job type: Full time, Permanent

The Role

We are Pathology First, a joint venture between our NHS Foundation Trust and a private partner. We have an exciting opportunity available for a Blood Sciences Operations Manager and are looking for an individual who has in-depth knowledge and experience of blood sciences workflow, staffing, equipment and production methods.

As an Operations Manager you will work with a team of Principal Biomedical Scientists to ensure discipline-specific expert knowledge is available and to operate a functional, efficient and compliant laboratory service. You will ensure that regulatory and accreditation requirements are met, operating within a quality management system and delivering against key performance indicators. Staff engagement is an essential part of the role.

The Candidate:

Essentials:

  • HCPC Registration, and hold an MSc, FIBMS or equivalent
  • Experience in managing a large service
  • Expert knowledge of national guidelines and protocols relating to pathology
  • Ability to perform under the pressure of challenging timescales, multiple demands and changing services
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desirable:

  • Management qualification e.g., MBA, DMS
  • Project management experience, skills or qualifications
  • Lean, 6 sigma or equivalent processes and mindset
