Job Title: Recycling Line Leader

Location: Ridham, Sittingbourne, Kent

Salary: £12.60 per hour plus monthly KPI bonus

Job type: Permanent, Full-time (55 hours per week on a rota basis Monday – Sunday)

Main job functions

To keep the working area, that you are responsible for, clean and tidy at all times and, where applicable, to sort and separate recyclables from waste.

Note: in addition to these functions, employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.

Main duties – principle responsibilities:

Duties/responsibilities (in order of priority)

  • Maintain a safe working environment throughout your activities, including keeping working area tidy and access to walkways and emergency exits clear.
  • Manually sort waste brought into the Yard.
  • Sweep, clean and pick up litter from designated areas.
  • Clean barriers, signs and other market infrastructure as instructed and required.
  • Undertake any training necessary to perform other tasks including operation of other plant and equipment.
  • Ensure you meet Manual Handling requirements to assist in waste management activities.
  • Litter pick ‘Fall Out Areas’ and fences in designated areas.
  • As required assist in gritting and clearing all footways and roadways in the winter months.
  • Checking incoming loads ensuring they comply with the Waste Acceptance Procedure.
  • Oversee and assist with housekeeping responsibilities for the work area.
  • Immediately report: any contamination or non-conforming wastes delivered to site; accidents, incidents, and near misses; environmental hazards; health & safety breaches to the Supervisor or Site Manager.
  • Ensure appropriate safety equipment and PPE is used at all times.
  • Assist other job roles upon request and when authorised by your Supervisor.
  • Staff have a duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions at work.
  • Staff must co-operate, report unsafe conditions and comply with the company management systems and safe systems of work as well as co-workers to help everyone meet their legal requirements.

Experience

  • Experience working on a Picking Line.

  • Experience in the Waste Industry
