Job Title: Nursery Manager
Location: Kilburn, London
Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 per year (qualification/experience dependent)
Job type: Permanent, Full time 40 hours.
We are currently recruiting for a passionate and experienced Nursery Manager to join our growing Bright Star Day Nursery and Preschool team. Our 76-place nursery consists of three individual rooms, nursery kitchen and spacious outdoor garden.
Purpose of the Role:
The Nursery Manager is the named suitable person in charge of the nursery and responsible for all operational and regulatory aspects, building a vision which is shared by the whole team. The role is a key leadership role at Bright Star Day Nursery, with responsibility for all aspects of managing a nursery.
This manager will effectively lead, inspire potential and engage their team to deliver exceptional care and education. The role is fundamental and should be delivered through leading and managing by example, role-modelling best practice and observation and assessment of standards and practice throughout the nursery.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Lead and role model best practice and high standards of behaviour with the staff team, deliver relevant training to practitioners, and continually reflect on practice to identify and drive continuous improvement.
- To be the lead Designated Safeguarding Lead at the nursery and hold overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of safeguarding and child protection policies in the nursery.
- Working with HR to ensure the nursery is fully recruited with suitable qualified people, encouraging a diverse workforce, who are comprehensively inducted, trained and supported.
- Provide exceptional organisational leadership of nursery teams – promote a positive culture, values, and behaviours, to drive customer and client satisfaction and employee engagement and performance.
- To complete effective annual appraisals for all staff, and contribute to succession planning, identification and delivery of relevant training, coaching and mentoring.
- Working with the Directors, HR (Finance and Marketing), identify and implement commercial plans and strategies to deliver FTE growth in the nursery.
- Excellent knowledge of the EYFS.
Essential Experience:
- A strong record of on-going training and/or professional qualifications since qualifying.
- Proven experience of working in early years education settings with successful management leading to ‘Good or Outstanding’ regulatory inspection outcomes.
- Strong decision-maker, with the proven ability to support change; a secure understanding of the complex relationship between business/commerce and service excellence within regulated setting to achieve success.
- Experience of developing high performing teams, with a successful record of accomplishment of supporting effective regulatory compliance, quality improvement and delivering high quality service excellence.
- Experience of proving support and leadership to a staff team to enable staff in fulfilling their roles, responsibilities, and legislation duty in relation to safeguarding children.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience of budget preparation, efficient staff deployment and rostering programmes.
- Knowledge of Local Authority and Regulatory requirements and inspection processes across the UK.
