Job Title: Multi-Trade Operative (Tiling)

The Role:
To carry out tiling works and multitrades within domestic and commercial properties. This will involve working with all types of tiles that may be found in such properties (including ceramic, clay, slate, marble and glass). Ordinarily, works will be related to insured building repairs and be located at properties within an approximate 50-mile radius of Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working out material quantities required
- Cutting tiles to a certain size or shape with hand-cutters or bench-mounted tools
- Preparing surfaces by levelling off with plaster, sand or cement
- Decorating and protecting floors and walls using all kinds of tiles (including ceramic, clay, slate, marble and glass)
- Fixing the tiles and applying grout before finishing off
- Laying intricate mosaic tiles
- Working in client’s homes or businesses
- Patch plaster repairs to walls and ceilings
- Painting and decorating
- Basic plumbing
Experience and skills:
Essential
- At least 4 years’ experience in commercial or residential tiling
- Ability to comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches, building plans and other specifications
- Ability to tile walls and floors with a variety of tiles (including ceramic, clay, slate, marble and glass), to a good standard and at a good pace
- Ability to carry out other related trades including general plaster repairs, basic plumbing and decorating
- Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation
- Full, clean UK driving license

- Good knowledge of standard building practices and materials
- Good knowledge of standard building plant & equipment
- Own vehicle (company vehicle can be provided)
