Job Title: Mentor/Life Skills Coach

Salary: From £18,000.00 per year
Job type: Full Time.
You will be paid for 3 hours a week for team meetings. Full time hours are 23 hours per week with an additional 4-6 hours per month.
Sporting Chance Project requires Engagement Mentor, Educator and Life Skills Coaches to work predominantly with students aged 7 -18 years of age. The position is for full-time applicants school hours (32.5/week)
The successful candidates will report to Head of Education & Life Skills and will be committed to meeting & developing the needs of vulnerable young people who struggle at mainstream school. SCP work with Children & Young Persons (CYP) with various conditions that make school & life difficult at times. The CYP may have Special Educational Needs (SEN) Educational Health Care Plan, which could identify Social, Emotional, Behavioural, Mental Health, ADHD, Autism (ASD) needs.
Part of the employment will involve helping CYP make right choices, develop Life Skills reintegrating the young person back into some form of education which will assist in future pathways.
You will also be expected to conduct regular student reviews and take an active part in the young person’s development by completing reports on a weekly basis and keeping parents informed.
You will be an ambassador for Sporting Chance Project and you will be expected to present a positive image of the project at all times.

Sporting Chance Project is an Alternative Learning Provider who offer education Functional Skills, Construction Trade Tasters, Health & Fitness, Independent Living Skills together with Personal & social Development all dependent upon individual CYP’s needs.
We work with young people excluded or on the verge of exclusion from school within the SEMH behavioural group of young people! Engagement, Mentoring, Education meeting the needs of vulnerable young people who are the stars in our project.
Candidates should possess:
– Ability to engage, mentor, educate young people.
– Excellent communication & people skills
– Current DBS OR Valid Safeguarding Children Certificate, although SCP will apply obtain if required.
– Computer literate, ability to use, email, word and excel based documents.
– An understanding of learning, life skills & career pathways
– Full Driving License as the successful candidate will be required to travel around Bristol between schools and pick-up locations.
– Experience in tutoring learners (desirable but not essential)
– Experience of working with SEN young people with individual needs. (desirable but not essential)

The successful candidate will undergo a screening process that will include an Enhanced DBS. The above will be fully supported by Sporting Chance Project.
