Job Title: Member Services Officer – Customer Service

Salary: £20,000 – £22,000 per year

Founded in 2002 Oldham Credit union (OCU) is a not for profit, democratic financial co-operative owned and run by its members.
Our mission is to provide access to fair financial services which promote greater financial inclusion and make a key contribution to the economic well-being of the Oldham Community.
We currently have over 5000 members holding £1.7M in savings and over £1.2M out on loan.
We are looking to build on these strong foundations and improve and grow the organisation with the introduction and development of new digital applications. As part of this re -organisation we are looking to appoint a Member Services Officer.
The Role:
To provide quality member services through the effective day to day management of member enquiries, the processing of members transactions and general office administration.
Key duties and tasks:
Including but not limited to;
- Responding to member service needs through all channels including mobile and digital applications
- Assisting members in their use of digital and mobile applications
- Processing all OCU member savings, loan and member service transactions in accordance with the rules, policies and procedures of the credit union
- Carrying out agreed OCU reconciliation and data collection processes
- Assisting with the Daily Bank reconciliation as directed by the Senior Member Services Officer (Finance)
- Assisting the Senior Member Services Officer (Finance) with the administration of the credit union’s payroll partnerships. This will include reconciliation of monies received with data provided; timely posting of payments to member accounts; interacting with payroll partners
- Administration of all inbound and outbound post
- Administration and support of OCU development / promotional activities including social media campaigns
- General office administration and housekeeping
- Support OCU payroll, direct debit, standing order, bank giro administration
- To fulfil End of Day routines regarding outgoing post and completing member transactions
- Taking good care of member data including scanning, filing and photocopying
- Producing statistics as required by the organisation.
- Undertake any necessary training and development as and when required
- To cover essential duties / operations of the credit union during absence and holidays
- Carry out any other reasonable task to support the effective operation of OCU as required
We are looking for the following Essential Criteria:
- Strong numeracy, verbal and written skills
- Experience of using IT systems and applications (Word, Excel, Power-point, Outlook)
- Good Team Player
- Accurate with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills written and spoken
- An understanding of the need for compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Commitment to the ongoing future development of the credit union
We are looking for the following Desirable Criteria:
- Experience of working in a financial / customer service setting
- Ability to confidently use various IT systems and platforms, which includes (but is not limited to): The Credit Union’s CRM system; the Credit Union’s mobile app (currently Nivo); the credit union’s electronic document management system (currently Mstore); Website and Social Media
- The Ability to confidently demonstrate new digital applications to members
- An understanding of what constitutes ‘a vulnerable customer, and the ability to interact appropriately with members who fit this description
