Job Title: Media Relations Officer
Location: Jubilee Campus, Nottingham.
Salary: £26,396 to £32,348 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.
Job Type: 12-month fixed-term. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours).

The Position:
We are seeking a Media Officer to join our busy award-winning Press Office team at the University of Nottingham for a period of 12 months to play a key role in telling the stories of our pioneering academics and their world-leading research.
Line-managed by one of our Media Relations Managers, you’ll marry a keen eye for attention to detail with creative flair and a wealth of bright ideas to extend the reach and impact of our news outputs across our range of channels, including coverage reports, social media and digital media.
Candidate Requirements:
Previous experience of working in a busy news or press office environment would be a definite bonus – the ability to write accurate and engaging copy; a digital and social media skill set and confidence in using Excel spreadsheets to manage and present data are a must.
Duties Include:
- Working alongside our other Media Officer to deliver media monitoring and evaluation services, producing compelling coverage reports highlighting the successes of the Press Office team and our academic media stars to our university community and beyond.
- Supporting the media relations team producing blogs, videos, graphics and social media content to amplify across digital and social media channels.
- Supporting the university’s main social media team in producing corporate news and campaign content.
- Supporting the faculty Media Relations Managers in drafting, proofing and distributing press releases, building contact lists, managing events and assisting with day-to-day office administration.

This role is available on a 12-month fixed-term basis. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Arrangements for job share may be considered. The University supports hybrid working and there is an expectation that you will spend around 60% of your time on campus. Arrangements can be agreed locally with your line manager. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
