The Role

Based just 8 miles outside of Newquay, our Cornwall office is the Moose Toys UK and European Hub. In the past 18 months we have experienced considerable growth and opportunity and, as we continue to develop and invest in our strategic growth plans, we are looking for an experienced, passionate, and dynamic Mechatronic Engineer to join our award winning team.
This role is an integral part of the Moose Toys team. You will be responsible for supporting the development of new innovative toy concepts, providing solutions ranging from proof-of-concept models to full manufacturing solutions for Moose products, with an emphasis on mechanical and electro-mechanical toys. This is a hands-on role where iterative design and model making is encouraged in the hunt for innovative solutions that facilitate exciting new play experiences for our consumers.
Experience and Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Mechanical Engineering type role or similar
- A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Robotics Engineering or similar
- Excellent computer skills with experience in CAD systems (preferably Fusion 360) for product design
- Experience in the design of plastic parts and mechanisms
- Ability to design digital electronic systems, create schematic drawings, and build prototype circuits
- Ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation including specifications, BOMs, and Costing
- To understand a range of materials and their characteristics, primarily injection moulding plastics
- An ability to think creatively and apply engineering principles in a sound manner
- Knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques and solid hands-on skills for basic prototype building
- To understand production line processes, manufacturing, and assembly constraints
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, Senior Management and overseas model shop and manufacturing plants
- Experience of managing multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment
- Passionate, creative, organised, team player
Highly Desirable:
- A comprehensive understanding and application of plastics engineering, design and manufacturing including tooling and moulding processes
- Experience performing CAD-based simulation and modelling
- Experience in the programming of embedded systems
- First-hand knowledge of QA & QC processes
