Job Title: Mechanical Test Engineer
Location: Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire

The role:
Every product that leaves our factory is subject to extensive pre-delivery testing to ensure safety and performance as part of our ISO9001 accredited Quality Management System. We are now looking for a capable and conscientious engineer to join the team.
You will be working in a fast-moving production environment and testing a huge range of laboratory equipment – from wind tunnels to flow channels and heat transfer equipment to gas turbine demonstrators.
You will be expected to be able to follow established test procedures to check components, sub-assemblies and finished products and use your initiative to identify and rectify issues within tight deadlines.
This is a demanding role in which you will need to display a rare combination of attention to detail and careful adherence to procedure with the ability to analyse and solve problems on complex, low volume equipment.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Mechanical testing of products and sub-assemblies in accordance with the relevant test method in line with planned shipping dates
- Investigating issues, making adjustments/repairs and liaising with other areas to arrange necessary repairs/rework
- Inspecting bought-in items to design specification and accept or reject as necessary
- Assisting with investigation and repair of equipment returned from the field
- Making suggestions for improvements in product design and manufacturing process to improve quality and efficiency
- Calibrating internal test/measuring equipment
Essential Experience from Candidate:
- Previous test experience in a relevant mechanical/inspection background
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and diagnose faults
- Flexible, positive approach, attention to detail and ability to think outside of the box
Desirable:
- Minimum of HNC in Mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- Fitting, assembly, or prototype build experience
- Experience calibrating equipment
- F-Gas Certification
- ISO Quality background/knowledge
