The role:
Our engineering team is growing, and we are looking to appoint an experienced Manufacturing and Prototype Engineer. To be based in our head offices’ manufacturing unit in Greater Edinburgh. The role will be essential in the production implementation of new Sunamp products, supply chain management and technical factory support.
In addition, the role will assume responsibility for the introduction of extensions to existing product ranges, implement value engineering initiatives and support the set-up of new Sunamp production sites globally.
The Candidate:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in large scale manufacturing and production, with associated technical tasks and prototyping responsibility.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Adaptability and readiness to challenge existing practices and find alternatives.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and related standards is desirable.
- Previous experience of using Autodesk Inventor with proficiency.
- Working knowledge and experience of the HVAC industry is highly desirable.
- Requires minimal direction to undertake the role and supports departmental decision making.

- Experience of developing products and adding new product modifications
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Lead the production implementation of new Sunamp products and extensions to existing Sunamp product ranges.
- Create work instructions (WI) for production processes and manage the change procedure and documentation on identified improvements.
- Support the assessment and implementation of new global Sunamp/OEM factories and production processes relating to the Heat Battery products.
- Ensure training programmes are completed according to the WI and manage the associated training documentation.
- Deliver prototypes based on business requirements and carry out design to manufacture assessments for launch into large scale production.
- Exploit own experience in constant drive to enhance Sunamp processes, products and customer quality.
- Define opportunities for value engineering/cost down and take the lead to drive though to implementation.
- Work very closely with Purchasing and Factory teams to investigate and resolve issues preventing a steady flow of materials/products.
- Coach, mentor and manage a team of Students, Graduates, Technicians and/or Engineers conducting performance appraisals as appropriate.
- Prepare, review and approve departmental and project documentation.
- Identify potential patentable ideas and lead process of Intellectual Property protection.
- Possess working knowledge and previous experience of utilising Autodesk Inventor
- Develop and execute safety plans ensuring compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards.
- Prepare, evaluate and enforce policies & procedures to establish a positive safety culture.
- Conducts risk assessments and safety audits on personnel, equipment and materials.
- Support engagement with standards and approvals bodies to ensure Sunamp’s process and procedures are in compliance with national and international standards.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and its compliance requirements.
