Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire

Job Type: Full-time, permanent, 37 hours per week, ie. 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday -Thursday (half an hour for lunch); 8.00am to 1.00pm Friday (no lunch break)

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
You will have a wide remit to identify opportunities that will deliver most benefit to the business. This role spans the entire range of manufacturing engineering activities with a focus on process and design improvements to deliver quality improvements and meaningful cost reduction. TecQuipment has in-house machining, sheet metal, fabrication, paint, assembly and test operations and an extensive supply chain for specialised components so the role will be extremely varied and provide opportunities to deliver efficiency savings. This exciting role will include:
- Identifying opportunities for process and quality improvements
- Working with Production and Engineering to develop and implement improvements
- Working with Purchasing and Engineering to drive improved supplier performance
Essential Experience from Candidate:
- Experience within an SME manufacturer
- Proven DFM/DFA implementation
- Good knowledge of production systems including BOM structure, sub-assemblies, manufacturing routes, route timing and shop floor data capture
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes related to sheet metal, CNC machining and electrical and mechanical assembly
- 2+ Years’ experience within a manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience of successful design cost-down activities
- Excellent communication skills with all levels within the organisation
- Ability to engage with people and drive projects to a successful conclusion within a high-pressure manufacturing operation
Desirable:
- Degree in Manufacturing/Production Engineering or equivalent
- Experience and understanding of high variability low volume manufacturing
- Knowledge of post process treatments
- Strong IT skills and experience with MRP/ERP tools
- Knowledge and experience of using SMED and zero-defect quality management / 6 Sigma / Kaizen tools
- Ability to use 3D CAD – ideally SolidWorks
