Job Title: Maintenance Assistant – The Mulberry Bush
Location: Oxford
Salary: £23,973 – £25,404 per year
Job type: Permanent, Full time (40 hours per week).
The Role:
If you are a hardworking and dedicated Maintenance Assistant that can act as part of the team providing a first fix/general maintenance response to the buildings and grounds that form the Mulberry Bush school and other Mulberry Bush buildings, we’re looking for you!

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
General maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager within training and competency. This may include but not be limited to:
- Repairs to paintwork including full room decoration.
- Assist with space management tasks such as furniture moves.
- Liaise with and escort sub-contractors delivering specific services to support the site buildings (including but not limited to): Water, Utilities, Fire safety.
- Weekly and monthly checks of fire alarms, fire doors and systems at the Burrow, Coach house, Linden house & the Mulberry Bush school.
- Utilities Monitoring: Checking and recording monthly utilities records.
- Monitor serviceability of The Mulberry Bush assets and make recommendations for repair/replacement of assets as necessary.
- Drive the company vehicle when required in support of daily tasking.
- Maintenance of the School fleet of vehicles including but not limited to cleaning (inside & out), checking oil, water, screen wash & tyre pressures.
- Fixing & installing noticeboards, shelves, signs etc.
- Checking, repairing & installing/assembling furniture, desk, chairs, cupboards etc.
- Servicing & repairing external furniture.
- General equipment repairs/servicing.
- Assist with Grounds maintenance including cutting/strimming grass, pruning hedges, fence repairs/replacement & use of the pressure washer.
- Provide and other reasonable support to the maintenance team in the delivery of their duties.

Essential Skills:
- Previous experience of working in a maintenance environment.
- Previous experience of practical maintenance service delivery.
- Ability to use hand tools safely and competently – drill, sander, strimmer, mower, leaf blower.
- Professional appearance and approach to work.
- Proactive team player with excellent communication skills and a good telephone manner.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask.
- No known impediment to security clearance.
- Full driving licence.
- Physically fit to deliver routine maintenance activities.
Desirable Skills:
- Competency in several of the following would be advantageous:
- Carpentry
- Painting and Decorating
- Bricklaying
- Roofing
- Plumbing
- Plastering/Glazing
- Up to date with Health and Safety legislation around the role.
- Manging and working with contractors.
