Job Title: Maintenance Surveyor (Planned)

Location: Harrogate

Salary: £24,313 – £26,317 per annum

Job type: Full time, Permanent

The Council’s property services team are looking for a Maintenance Surveyor to work in their maintenance team providing reactive maintenance across the Council’s portfolio.

The Role

Reporting to the Planned Works Manager, you would be working in a team of four surveyors and one senior surveyor to provide Housing Planned Maintenance work serving their stock of nearly 4,000 dwellings, small projects to Corporate assets, Disabled Facilities Grant works to private housing and Adaptations to their own housing stock.

You will be comfortable working under your own initiative with support from the team, to perform your duties, ensuring your work is aligned to their standards, policies and procedures.

Job Duties:

  • To assist the team Manager in the delivery of the day to day service for Planned Maintenance, Improvements, Adaptations, etc. to the Council’s Housing Stock
  • To provide quality control, tenant liaison and customer care roles on site
  • To ensure work is carried out safely, to the required legislation, regulations, Approved Codes of Practice, etc. and observing Best Practice in the industry
  • To assist in the implementation of the principles of Best Value and seek continuous improvement in service delivery
  • To assist colleagues across the Housing and Property Service as directed

Key Requirements:

  • Building/Construction qualification to NVQ level 2 minimum, pref. level 3 or equivalent
  • General property maintenance, with a domestic property bias
  • Technical design and specification of domestic/light commercial scale building works
  • Working with contractors to achieve good quality and adherence to programme
  • Production of simple working drawings to a professional standard
  • Commitment to a customer-focussed approach
  • Diplomatic approach to conflict or complaint resolution (customers and contractors)
  • Willing to undertake further training/development as required
  • Supportive of a continuous development ethos
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisation skills, able to work under own initiative
  • Comfortable using general office computer applications
  • Full driving licence and use of a vehicle for work
  • Able to attend occasional evening meetings
