Grasmere Rest Home is a privately-run residential care home looking for someone with a genuine interest in working within a caring environment to become our Maintenance Manager for the next three months. There is one role available.
The Role:
This outlines the main duties of the post. It is not intended as an exhaustive list. Our company values are an integral part of life at our home and will help you to:
- Support the manager, residents and staff through the repair, decoration, maintenance and testing of the home both internally and externally
- Have a passion for the security and wellbeing of our service users, ensuring the effective operation and safety of the home’s facilities and environment
- Pay attention to the service users’ surroundings, the garden, heating, lighting and water use within the home, keeping a record of faults and repairs in the Maintenance Book
- Show dedication towards the fixing of any faults within the home as quickly as possible, even out of hours for emergencies, and notifying staff when you are unable to do so
- To show empathy towards each individual’s needs; colleagues and service users included. To understand the importance of prioritising certain tasks to ensure the wellbeing of the residents.
Other Responsibilities:
- Maintain the operation and safe storage of equipment, tools, chemicals and the Workshop
- Assist / supervise with deliveries to the Home, monitoring delivered goods closely
- Report immediately to the Home Manager or Person in Charge any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Client, colleague, self or other.
- Notify the Home Manager immediately of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence.
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a care setting – including wheelchair and hoist maintenance
- Experience working as painter, decorator, plumber or carpenter
- Knowledge of central heating systems, laundry equipment and the prevention of water-based diseases.
- Evidence of having undertaken, or be willing to undertake relevant training (i.e. moving & handling, health & safety, food hygiene, etc.)
- Basic understanding of the Health & Safety at Work Act and Infection Control.
Essentials:
- City and Guilds Certificate in Painting and Decorating
- Able to responsibly gauge the cost and timeframe of work to meet deadlines
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels and be a team player
- Willingness to participate in vocational training programmes
- Has a satisfactory DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check and Adult First
- Able to work with the scope of the Data Protection Act 1998 and adhere to all Data Protection Legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
Please note: Full vaccination is required to work in the homes as per the Health & Social Act.
