Job Title: Maintenance Engineer – Smoke Ventilation

Ventec 100 Ltd t/as Vent Engineering was founded in 1988. We are specialists in natural and smoke ventilation systems and have been importing, manufacturing, supplying, installing and commissioning smoke ventilation systems for over 35 years for a variety of projects of all shapes and sizes
About The Role:
We are looking for an experienced smoke ventilation engineer for remote work, ideally based in the Guildford area but willing to travel between Manchester and London. This role involves professionally inspecting, testing, maintaining, and repairing life safety smoke control systems and their components. You may work on larger sites as part of a team or independently on smaller sites after full training on our control systems.
Working Hours:
Flexibility in working hours is essential. You’ll work Monday to Friday, often requiring early starts to reach some sites during standard business hours. Occasionally, you may need to respond to emergency callouts on short notice, depending on the issue’s urgency. There may also be instances when you need to stay overnight, depending on the site’s location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test, repair, inspect and maintain a wide range of life safety equipment (natural and mechanical smoke ventilation systems) in accordance with legislation, company specifications and manufacturers guidelines
- Attention to detail is essential in both understanding the systems design and functionality as well as identifying potential issues on site.
- Document tasks completed and other relevant information pertaining to the visit, in a service report.
- To provide detailed defect reporting and to liaise with clients to resolve defects, advise on the possible causes and solutions that will prevent reoccurrence
- Provide full assistance to the maintenance department in the preparation of remedial quotations
- Liaise with the maintenance department highlighting potential sales opportunities for products and services offered by Vent Engineering

Required Experience and Qualifications:
In order to be successful for this role, the following experience is required:
- Will have experience in fault finding and undertaking technical assessment with a view to resolving problems
- Have experience of electrical circuits within control panels
- Experience of working at height
- Have a Full driving licence (max 6 points)
- 17th or 18th Edition Electrical qualification or other recognised electrical qualification
- Gold Card Electrician with testing and inspecting qualifications
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Will preferably have a Fire Alarm or Smoke Ventilation qualification
- Some experience of working within the smoke ventilation/ life safety industry
- Site experience, ideally holding a CSCS Card
