Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Engineer

Location: Ilford, Essex

Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum (Experience Dependant)

Job Type: Permanent, Full time.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Industrial Maintenance Engineer to join the team at Starna Scientific Ltd. The role is essential in ensuring maximum production time at the manufacturing facility. You will perform mechanical and electrical repairs on a wide range of industrial machines which are used in the production of high precision optics and accessories. The job also includes basic facility maintenance.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Hands-on engineering maintenance and mechanical repairs on a wide range of industrial machines.
  • Machine operation including manual lathe work, milling and drilling to create bespoke tools and components for use in the production process.
  • Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance and responding to breakdowns.
  • Developing maintenance procedures and diagnosing faults.
  • Obtaining or creating specialist components, fixtures or fittings. Managing related supplies and equipment.
  • Erecting and assembling machinery.
  • Building maintenance and repairs.
  • Mechanical: bearings, pumps, valves, chains.
  • Electrical: single and 3 phases.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with mechanical and electrical maintenance in a manufacturing/production or industrial facility.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a manual machinist.
  • Proven experience with electrical maintenance including installation, repair and testing.
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety standards.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Good attention to detail and numeracy skills.
  • Good planning and time management skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
