Sportex Group is a multi-discipline company based in Grangemouth. Our Contract, Maintenance and Recycling Divisions install and maintain the very best in artificial sport surfaces and offer a recycling solution when the surfaces reach the end of their usable life.
We are thrilled to be offering the opportunity to join us as a Recycling Plant and Machinery Mechanic at our facility in Grangemouth.

You will be a leading member of our maintenance team, taking responsibility for all repairs and within the Recycling Plant and within our Maintenance Plant and Equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
This role is based on a 5-day week with overtime available depending on company requirements, so a flexible and proactive approach is required. Reporting directly to the Transport and Asset Manager/Managing Director, the ideal candidate will:
- Carry out Inspections, Servicing and Repairs – Including fault finding and troubleshooting activities around the machinery and equipment
- Conduct all planned maintenance across both the Maintenance and construction machinery and the recycling site in a timely and safe manner ensuring maintenance procedures are followed.
- Update records of work activities, tasks carried out, and parts used.
- Respond to and diagnose equipment breakdowns, resolving issues and actioning repairs.
- Welding skills would be advantageous. (MIG/ARC)
- Fault finding and resolving of electrical issues. Ensure all work is carried out in line with relevant health & safety legislation and company processes and procedures
- Accepting and sorting inbound delivery
- Upkeep and organisation of the Working Yard/Warehouse
- On occasion assist with site visits for machinery breakdowns
- Where appropriate assist Sportex in other duties, within the Recycling plant or maintenance tasks.
The Candidate:
- The successful candidate will have all the relevant qualifications or a minimum of 3 years’ experience within the mechanical engineering industry with good knowledge in mechanics, hydraulics, and electrics – Level 3 Mechanical Qualification would be advantageous.
- You will have been educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
- Experience working on rollers, dumpers, loading shovels and 360s would be advantageous but not essential.
- Experience within a recycling waste management plant as a fitter or mechanic would be advantageous
- Experience working in busy Warehouse/Yard environment.
- You will need to be competent computer user.
- You will need to be flexible and have a ‘can-do’ attitude and be able to manage your time efficiently along with working to tight deadlines.
