You may not have heard of Stage One, but you will have probably seen our work. We deliver exciting and innovative projects within the creative industries, from the Serpentine Pavilion and Olympic cauldrons, to the set for The Voice and Sports Personality of the Year. Our work can be seen around the world and usually falls into the following categories; large-scale events, theatre and TV sets, ceremonies, art installations and architectural pavilions.
Stage One is a multi-disciplined manufacturing facility spread over 14,000sqm of estate, employing a team of over 90 people. We have four manufacturing and storage facilities, engineering, fabrication, woodwork, finishing and a specialist manufacturing facility.
The Operations Department functions to support the overall running of all the departments, this includes: wrapping and packing, loading and unloading of trucks, internal site to site transport, plant maintenance, waste management, estate management.
The Role:
The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing a department which connects and processes materials through the different departments at Stage One.
The Operations Department receives raw materials and are responsible for the wrapping of finished goods, ensuring they are packaged safely for onward transport. In between these two stages are many tasks which need to be planned, managed and controlled.
Working closely with the Operations Supervisor, the Logistics Manager will be responsible for the overall department performance, including managing assets and managing team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- To supervise and manage the department, including reviewing processes, implementing changes and increasing efficiency
- To lead and manage the Supervisor of the department
- To co-ordinate with all departments ensuring that the necessary support is directed to the right place
- Ensuring all immediate reports are correctly briefed, fully tasked and aware of timescales available for allocated tasks. Approving immediate reports timesheets
- Responsible for sourcing and organising extra plant as necessary
- Responsible for arranging/coordinating storage requirements for Projects and Clients
- Assist in the movement of raw materials and built items between company workshops and suppliers, as required
- Liaising with regard to agency requirements and with trucking companies as required
- Assisting in the preparation of equipment and road boxes for site
- Liaison with Project management and Production
- Production planning is considered across all projects involving the Operations Team
- Ensuring staff performance reviews and related training plans are completed in line with review schedule
- Responsible for training members of the department, ensuring new members and agency staff are inducted properly and signed off on all relevant training
- Assist production departments, as required, to maintain housekeeping standards within the workshop and external loading areas
- Supporting the Head of Production where necessary to facilitate Production requirements
Person specification: (Essential)
Qualifications
- A general education to include 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above (including Maths and English), or an equivalent educational qualification, or relevant experience
Knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of loading and unloading vehicles
- Knowledge of H&S and correct use of PPE
- Understanding of health and safety issues in relation to manual handling and COSHH
Skills, abilities and competencies
- Previous loading/unloading/crewing experience
- Previous Supervisory / Management experience
- Previous experience within a workshop environment
- Experience of working to varying production deadlines & changing specifications
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
- Ability to effectively organise and prioritise own work and follow procedures in order to produce work to a high standard, to required deadlines

Additional information: 07:30 – 16:00 Monday to Friday, with 30-minute lunch break, overtime as required which may include weekends
