To help us achieve our growth plans we are looking for 3 additional Life and Disability Underwriters.
The role:
In summary, the role will be to review and assess applications as well as medical and financial evidence for life and Income Protection polices and approving new business within an agreed authority level.
The Candidate:
You will be empowered to handle your own caseload as well as supporting team priorities.
The role will give you an opportunity to demonstrate your great underwriting skills, including working on:
- substandard cases and financial underwriting
- private medical insurance
- approving all new business
- increase applications reinstatements and existing business ‘terms reviews’
It will also give you the opportunity to develop your life medical underwriting skills as we focus specifically on high risk cases
You will be familiar with working with underwriting guidelines and rating considerations within an agreed authority level.
Your great people skills will be drawn upon as you liaise with colleagues, medical professionals, reassurers, financial advisors and the public. Whether it’s picking up a call or drafting correspondence, your excellent written and verbal communication skills will be required.
With your finger on the pulse of latest developments in the underwriting world, you will be strategic in your thinking. Coupled with excellent organisational and prioritisations skills, your ability to juggle multiple priorities will enable you to build great team relationships and help you coach less experienced colleagues.
As you are eager to learn and willing to take onboard feedback, you will be highly self-motivated to extend your medical underwriting knowledge to include private medical insurance.
