Salary: £17,000 upwards, dependent on experience

Working Hours: Standard working hours are 8:30am to 5:30pm, but alternative arrangements are happily considered
The company is a top 200 Law firm, a Legal 500 Leading Firm for personal injury and clinical negligence, Lexcel and Law Society accredited. They cover all areas of personal injury including public liability, occupier’s liability, road traffic accidents, employer’s liability, industrial disease, serious injuries and clinical negligence matters. They pride themselves in the work they do helping injured people.
The company are looking to recruit a talented legal secretary to join their growing and busy law firm. The role will include audio typing, preparation of documents and correspondence, speaking to clients and third parties by telephone and diary management.
Job Description
- Working in a pool of legal secretaries in a defined work stream of either road traffic accidents, employers’ liability, public liability or clinical negligence, covering work for a number of Solicitors and Legal Executives in this very busy law firm
- Preparing correspondence and documents including pleadings and court bundles to be sent out either by post or via email
- Photocopying and scanning documents (with assistance from Administration team if needed)
- Take and make calls to clients and others in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the firm’s standards of client care
- Make appointments, arrange meetings and liaise with lawyers, clients, Counsel and others
- Provide help and support to other secretaries and the administration team as required
- Undertake any specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development
- Ensure the confidentiality of all the firm’s and clients’ documentation and information is maintained in accordance with the Data Protection Act
The Candidate:
Essential Skills
- Legal knowledge
- Computer literate
- Excellent command of English spelling, punctuation and grammar (Grade C and above at GCSE)
- Excellent word processing and audio typing skills
- Excellent customer service skills, including professional and friendly telephone manner
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of the Proclaim case management system
- Experience of working in a personal injury law firm, or civil litigation firm
- Audio typing speed of 65+ words per minute
- Experience of working with court forms and creating pleadings
- Experience of digital dictation
