Job Title: Learning Mentor – Temporary

Location: Plumstead, South East London

Salary: £24,276 per annum (Actual gross salary)

Job Type: Temporary (1 year) Full Time, Term time only (35 hours/ week, 39 weeks/ year)

Closing date: Noon, Wednesday 9th December 2020

The Role:

They are seeking a Learning Mentor to support the achievement of students through academic and pastoral mentoring of identified groups of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tracking and monitoring the achievement of students and oversee the personalised provision of support and intervention
  • Developing peer-mentoring and coaching for key groups of students
  • Providing specific interventions to boost progress
  • Supervising ‘Study Hall ‘ provision
  • Putting in place programmes of inspirational and motivational events
  • Developing and embedding the qualities central to cultivating success, harmony and high achievement
  • Monitoring the attendance and engagement of identified students in programmes of academic and pastoral support
  • Liaising with outside agencies and providers to put in place a programme of inspirational and motivational events which will engage young people and raise their aspirations
  • Promoting the understanding of spiritual, moral, social and cultural development in collaboration with the Key Stage Leader

Key Requirements:

  • You will need to have a Level 3 Qualification and at least a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths. A qualification at degree level would be an advantage
  • You will also need a qualification in mentoring or coaching together with experience of working with young people in Key stage 3, 4, or 5
  • Knowledge of good practice in inclusion, differentiation, engagement and the pathways available to meet the needs of different learners, including the more able and students at risk of not being in education, employment or training
  • You should also have competent ICT skills
