What does a Lead Programme Delivery Worker do at Hillingdon?

We are offering part time positions working 18 hours per week within the Universal Offer Children and Young People’s Team. Our offer runs throughout the year and across the whole of the borough of Hillingdon. Work patterns include evening shifts, afternoon shifts, weekend shifts, and occasional residential work. The salary advertised will be pro-rated.

The Universal team works with children and young people to deliver high quality, consistent youth work through Locality based, Detached, Outreach and Accredited programmes across the borough in collaboration with the statutory, community and voluntary sector. Our work is responsive to need, supports aspiration and is offered in safe spaces and places. Our work delivers opportunities that promote personal and social development, encourage children and young people to make informed choices and respect and value difference.

About you:

The ideal candidate for this role must embrace a positive, holistic, and empowering approach to service delivery, particularly in the context of working with children and young people in formal or informal education and community settings. Demonstrated experience and competence in these areas are essential, with a keen understanding of contemporary issues faced by the target demographic.

Qualifications for this position are flexible, as training will be provided during the induction process. However, a strong commitment to learning and supporting children and young people is imperative. The successful candidate should possess the following qualities:

  • Proven track record in community development and leadership
  • Experience in effectively working with community groups and individuals
  • Confidence in planning, delivering, and evaluating both group and one-to-one interventions and services tailored to specific needs
  • Confidence and motivation in approaching tasks with a positive ‘Can do’ attitude
  • Passion for working with children and young people
  • Approachable demeanour, capable of engaging with a diverse client population
  • Proactive approach to work, capable of both independent and collaborative efforts within a team
  • Demonstration of respect and politeness in all interactions
  • Compassionate and understanding attitude towards the challenges faced by children and young people
  • Reliable and organized in carrying out responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Ability to work closely with various organizations
  • Willingness to work flexibly to meet the diverse needs of children, young people, partners, and stakeholders

What we offer

  • Flexible Working Hours – We recognise the importance of flexibility in managing your work and personal life.
  • 36 Hour Week – Enjoy a standard 36-hour workweek for all full-time staff.
  • Generous Holiday Entitlement – You will receive a minimum of 26 days annual leave each year, in addition to bank holidays. This entitlement increases to a maximum 37 days after 10 years of service.
