Start / Finish time: either 10am-6pm or 7am to 3pm

We have an opportunity for a Laboratory Assistant to provide support within our
Technical & Compliance team.

About the role:
You will primarily be responsible for housekeeping activities within our laboratory to include stock controls, making media and buffers, cleaning and waste disposal. You will need to be systematic, well organised, have attention to detail, and work well within a team. You will also need to ensure quality standards are maintained to ensure a safe and clean working lab environment.
Key Duties:
- Competent in following simple laboratory protocols / work instructions for media, buffer and plate making.
- Planning and organising for completion of all the housekeeping activities (including waste disposal and stock level checks).
- Calibration activities (including pipettes and balances).
- Routine cleaning and maintenance of non-analytical lab equipment
- Routine cleaning activities within Micro lab, HEPA room, laboratory and cold room
- Communicating with our facilities department for repair of any broken small equipment.
- Working flexibly for accommodating out of hours business needs
- Carry out the responsibilities stated in the Managing Director’s Health & Safety Policy detailed in paragraphs 9 and 10 of his management directives.
- Be conversant with and adopt the procedures stated in the Quality & Environmental Management System and its supporting documents
About you:
Previous experience working or studying within a laboratory setting will be an advantage but is not essential for the role.
Ideally, you will possess a relevant NVQ/BTEC Level 2 qualification (or equivalent), and 5 GCSE’s or equivalent, (Grade C or above including Maths, Science and English).
