The role:
We now have a new and exciting opportunity for a Junior Health and Safety Advisor to work within our Health & Safety department. Reporting to the Head of SHEQ, you will ensure the Company meets the health and safety standards through the implementation of the Company Integrated Management System (IMS) ensuring compliance with government regulations and industry best practice.

Most importantly, we are looking for a driven and enthusiastic individual who will thrive in a busy and constantly changing environment and is keen to learn and develop. You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to build robust relationships with key stakeholders at all levels.
Travel and Flexibility
You will be required to travel to multiple sites from your office base and be willing to stay overnight on occasion if required to meet the needs of the business.
Key Accountabilities
- Promote a positive safety-first culture across the business
- Represent the Company in all Safety, Health, Environmental, Sustainability and Quality matters internally and externally, when required
- Provide competent advice and guidance on Health and Safety issues, driving best practice and a ‘safety first’ culture across the business
- Assist with all Health & Safety matters on Projects to meet the contract and business needs and objectives.
- Assist with the development and review of the CPP and RAMS for projects before they are issued for Construction
- Create CDM files for projects
- Conduct monthly site inspectionsaudits including overall H&S, Environmental and individual
- Assist the project managers with any additional safety documents where required
- Review third party safety documents including subcontractor documentation and RAMS
- Carry out company inductions of new personnel at site and at HQ
- To carry out internal audits in accordance with the audit programme
- Attend site progress meetings and client meets
- Assist SHEQ team with external accreditations ISO 9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, NERS, Achilles
- Report/update Head of SHEQ with progress
- Prepare and distribute lessons learnt/ Toolbox talks;
- Travel to multiple sites required – mixed office and site-based role
- Willingness to occasionally stay away from home if required- (accommodation provided)

Essential
- IOSH Membership
- Knowledge of H&S Legislation
- Risk Assessment Techniques
- Excavation Safety Knowledge
- Utilities /Civil engineering safety knowledge
- CDM Awareness and understanding
- Team Player
- Good Communication Skills
Desirable
- NEBOSH General / Construction Certificate and IOSH
- Streetworks accreditation
- IOSH Managing Safety
- Internal Auditor training
Hours of Work
- You will be required to work 40 hours from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm though some flexibility will be required to cover shifts within the working window of 7am and 5pm.
