The Joinery Manufacturing capabilities at Stage One Crosses a broad spectrum: from simple scenic flats to all manner of specialist scenic construction. Staging, treads and rostra through to exhibitions, shop fitting, furniture and bespoke sculptures.
The Role:
Bench Joiners work in the Wood Workshop carrying out bench joinery tasks on projects running through the workshop to a high standard as required. There is the opportunity to travel to site with this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construction of components as required ensuring that the highest standards in finish and tolerances in accordance with information supplied are achieved using the correct methods.
- Following day to day production plans inn order to meet project deadlines.
- Be able to solve problems and make decisions when needed.
- Record all builds as complete on our internal database.
- Help manage the quality control of finished items.
- Clearly communicate all relevant information including job progress and any problems and/or issues.
- To be flexible and assist other Departments / Supervisors when required
- Adhere to all Health & Safety Regulations and promote a safe working environment by actively incorporating H&S into everyday activities
- Actively pursue self-development to increase job knowledge and skills
- Maintain Housekeeping standards by actively promoting and following 5S and Environmental procedures

Person specification:
Qualifications:
- A general education to include 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above (including Maths and English), or an equivalent educational qualification, or relevant experience (Essential)
- Apprentice trained, or time served joinery experience (Essential)
Knowledge:
- Excellent knowledge of wood materials (Essential)
- Working knowledge of wood working machinery / equipment (Essential)
Skills, abilities and competencies:
- Demonstratable laminating skills (Essential)
- Very comfortable reading engineering drawings (Essential)
- Excellent finishing skills (Essential)
- Strong teamworking skills (Essential)
- FLT licence (Desired)
- H&S Training including working at Height Training (Desired)
Experience:
- Experience within a workshop environment (Essential)
- Experience of shop fitting, exhibition, site, bench or bespoke joinery (Essential)
- Experience of working with acrylic, Corian, laminates, veneers, hardwoods, DRP etc. (Essential)
- Experience of producing bespoke components & structures (Desirable)

Additional information: Hours: 7.30am – 4.00pm with regular overtime, which may include weekends
