Job Title: Systems & Support Specialist

Salary: £32,000 – £35,000 per annum depending on experience

This is an ambitious UK-based company with subsidiary operations in the USA, France, Germany and China. They supply materials which are used for research, development and specialised manufacturing applications within areas such as Healthcare, Industry, Communications, Academia and Defence.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the IT Project & Support Manager, this role will combine the responsibility for maintaining and supporting the company’s infrastructure, process and documentation management and first-rate customer service.
Working with the IT Project & Support Manager to ensure the systems are supported and maintained to a high standard, keeping up to date with the latest developments in technology and shaping the roadmap and strategy in line with the company’s vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Systems and network administration for the UK & US offices, including:
- Telephony and Telecommunications Systems
- Server Support (Veeam/vSphere/Active Directory)
- Desktop Support (Windows 10/Microsoft365/Intune/Group Policy)
- User & Helpdesk Support – 1st to 3rd line
- Firewall Administration (Watchguard)
- Network/VPN (Meraki/Nimble/Palo Alto)
- Working with the IT Support in China
- Assisting the IT Project & Support Manager to deliver strategic and operational objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Establishing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures
- Transferring knowledge regarding processes into a standard format that can be used throughout the department
- Utilise knowledge and skills from external influences to bring and maintain best practice in the department
- Being involved in a wide range of projects from multiple small projects to companywide / large assignments that can vary from software and infrastructure to back or front office IT
The Candidate:
- At least 5yrs experience is a server support role
- Strong influencing, negotiation and relationship building skills both internally and externally
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Effective prioritisation
- Being able to set personal objectives and goals and work towards these with limited direction
