As 3Keel grows in size, there is a need to create an IT function, with a Manager to support the Head of Operations. Having outsourced our requirements to a third party for a number of years, we now wish to move the support function inhouse to help promote the best technology experience for our team, whilst also achieving best in class information security.
The candidate should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. They should also be a good communicator and able to deal effectively at all levels within the business.
IT Manager role:
The IT Manager will work closely with/report to the Head of Operations, to ensure that 3Keel is technologically equipped to support our multi-national and government contracts. The role covers a range of management and support functions in our friendly business, including:
- Developing an IT strategy
- Owning our company information and privacy security policy, and ensuring their full implementation and adherence by our team
- Transferring, monitoring, and reporting a Cyber Essentials, or better, security management system
- Helping staff with any, and all, hardware and software challenges – from ‘have you tried turning it on and off’ to ‘it’s time to replace this’.
- Ensuring everyone knows how to use the common off the shelf software tools we use
- Advising on best practices for data management
- Managing our technology inventory and equipment retirement
- Promptly investigating, resolving and reporting any breaches in our policy or defences
- Continuously reviewing and optimising IT infrastructure taking account of technological improvements and new design patterns with cloud technologies, especially in relation to emerging security trends, risks, new guidance or standards (internal and external) and security enhancing technologies
- Provide guidance (e.g., information security risk severity assessments / relative cost benefit analysis) and recommendations regarding prioritisation of investments and projects that mitigate risks, strengthen defences and reduce vulnerabilities
- Promoting and managing IT and information security awareness and training, including GDPR
- Working closely with the Senior Management Team to assess the growth needs and maintenance of the company’s approach to data management
- Train employees on IT software use / best practice
Job specification – essential skills/experience:
- Extensive experience with IT systems, networks, and related technologies
- Best practices in IT administration and system security
- Information and data security, including GDPR, policy development and implementation
- Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms, including Microsoft, Google and Apple hardware and software ecosystems
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Being friendly and approachable
- Good organisational and time management and project management skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritise urgent tasks and juggle multiple demands in fast paced environment

- Significant proven experience as a system administrator
