About the Role:
To provide support to the Examination Officer with the examination process.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To conduct examinations in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) AWARDING BODY AND St Edmunds College regulations and instructions.
To have a key role in upholding the integrity and security of the external examination/assessment process.
Before Examinations:
- Report to and be briefed by the exams officer prior to each exam session
- Keep confidential exam question papers and materials secure before, during and after exams
- Ensure exam rooms are set up according to requirements
- Admit candidates into exam rooms under formal examination conditions
- Give full attention to conducting the examinations properly
- Identify candidates and seat candidates according to the required arrangements
- Distribute the correct question papers and exam materials to candidates
- Instruct candidates in the conduct of their exams
- Deal with candidate questions
- Start exams
During Examination:
- Supervise and observe candidates at all times and be vigilant throughout examinations
- Keep disruption in examinations room to a minimum
- Deal with emergencies or irregularities
- Record/report any incidents, disruption and irregularities
- Complete attendance registered
- Deal with candidates’ questions according to the regulations
After Examinations
- Instruct candidates in finishing their exams and collect examination scripts and materials
- Dismiss candidates from examination room
- Check candidates’ names on scripts, match the materials the exam officer
- Securely return all examinations scripts and materials to the exam’s officers
About You:
Experience:
- Demonstrable experience of working within a team
Desirable:
- Previously worked in a school
- Previous experience in a similar role
Skills and Knowledge:
Desirable:
- Familiarity with JCQ instructions for conducting exams

- To be hard working and a flexible team player
- To be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and the public
- To be able to accept instruction and guidance
- To be able to work and remain calm when dealing with queries
- Friendly, personable, wiling & helpful, good sense of humour

- Current UK work permit required
- Enhanced DBS check will be an obligatory success

Additional Information:
Whilst not in a teaching role, as an invigilator you will be working on a regular basis in a school role which gives opportunity for contact with children. As such, you will be in regulated activity and am enhanced DBS check (which includes children’s barred list information) will be requested In advance of appointment.
