Job Title: Insight Officer – Technical Development
Location: Telford, TF3
Salary: £27,741 – £29,577 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week, full working year

The Policy & Development Teams at Telford & Wrekin Council have a new, exciting and ambitious agenda to deliver for the whole Council. We are driving forward partnership working, evidence based decision making and organisational development.
The role:
You’ll be based in a strong and growing Insight Team who provide analysis and reporting to the Council in order to support evidence based decision making. This is a new role that reflects our commitment to continuously improve our use of technology to extract, manage and visualise data.
You will be supporting the Insight Partner on:
- The extraction, storage and management of complex data from a range of sources to support all aspects of data reporting
- Ensuring the extraction, storage and management of data by the Insight Team is consistent and based on sound design and principles
- The use of complex reporting software and programming language to extract, manage and organise data
- The consistent and appropriate use of software to extract, store and visualise data across the Insight Team
- Supporting an organisational culture of well-informed decision making by providing meaningful intelligence to decision makers
- Ensuring data reporting and extraction standards are maintained and improved in all new system implementation projects
- Maintaining an extensive knowledge and understanding of the latest technology regarding data management and reporting
About you:
We’re looking for someone who:
- Already works in a similar role and is looking for an exciting new opportunity
- Is skilled in extracting, storing and managing complex data to support reporting
- Is a confident user of complex reporting software and related programming languages for example SQL/M/DAX
- Is ready to support our journey to implementing Power BI for data visualisation
- Understands the challenges associated with a high profile role
- Is educated to honours degree level or its equivalent in terms of qualifications or experience
