The Role:
We are looking to recruit a motivating, adaptable and enthusiastic Sports Assistant with a strong background and experience in a range of sports. This position is Monday to Friday, term-time only plus three additional weeks. This is to start in September 2024.
They will work closely with the Head of Infant and Junior Division Sport to assist with the provision of sports coaching, teaching and fixture co-ordination and must be flexible across a range of sports. The successful candidate will require enthusiasm, good organisational skills and enjoy the company of able young people.
This post is ideal for anyone considering the teaching profession or coaching as a likely career. Additional coaching in other areas of sport would be advantageous.
The Infant and Junior Division:
The Infant and Junior Division has approximately 420 children aged 3-11 years. In two thriving departments, the Infant Department has a roll of some 160 children, aged 3-7 years, with approximately 260 children between the ages of 7 and 11 in the Junior Department.
The King’s School moved to its new site on Alderley Road in Macclesfield in 2020. The Infant and Junior Division is located on the western side of the main building. The Division has a light, open plan, modern design, which lends itself to creative, inspirational experiences for all of its pupils. Infant and Junior pupils benefit from using a number of specialist teaching facilities unique to the Division, as well as beautifully designed indoor and outdoor play and learning areas for all pupils to enjoy. Being a through-school brings the additional benefit of sharing access to several spectacular outdoor and indoor facilities in sport, art, science, technology, and the performing arts. Purpose of Role:
Principal Duties:
- Assist the Head of Infant and Junior School Sport in the provision of sports coaching, teaching and fixture coordination
- Provide high quality sports coaching for a range of sports throughout the week (sports involved: rugby, football, hockey, cricket, swimming, athletics, racquet sports and teaching games for understanding), including curriculum delivery as well as co-curricular clubs at lunchtime and after-school
- To be involved in the organisation and delivery of sports events throughout the academic year
- To support the Head of Infant and Junior School Sport in coordinating fixtures, liaising with colleagues and other schools as appropriate
- Regular communication with Head of Infant and Junior School Sport and the staff team
- Carry out any other tasks deemed appropriate by the Head of Infant and Junior School Sport
Salary and Conditions:
The role is full time to include supporting extra-curricular activities in early evenings (until 5.00 pm) during term time.
The salary for this post will be £20,144 per annum based on working term time + 15 days outside of term to cover events such as Open Days, preparation days and staff training outside term time.
