About the role:
SYNLAB UK and Ireland are the largest clinical diagnostics provider in Europe and have a 12 months (salaried) fixed term contract. The position is remote with occasional visits to other business sites.
This is a hands-on, delivery focussed role with primary responsibility for supporting identification of the technical specification for the payroll system to meet all of SYNLAB’s requirements. The post holder must be able to demonstrate attention to detail and an ability to manage large data sets, undertake rigorous User Acceptance Testing and of supporting the successful completion of parallel runs.
There will also be the requirement to assist with the development and roll out of new end to end payroll processes along with appropriate training for system users, line managers and end users to project timelines. Essential for this role is a practical understanding of employment law in relation to pay and a practical understanding of how contractual terms relating to pay operate.
Reporting the Payroll Implementation Manager, the post holder will work closely with the chosen supplier, SYNLAB’s HR teams, other key stake holders to deliver assigned tasks within the project.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Experienced in practical handling of payroll either through an HR or a Payroll team underpinned by either an HR/CIPD or Payroll/CIPP qualification; proven ability to understand and communicate issues relating to pay.
- Can demonstrate ability to research, analyse and interpret complex policy and other employment documents as they relate to pay.
- Understanding of complex payroll cycles and pay rules
- A good practical working knowledge of payroll legislation and its application, including tax, National Insurance, Statutory Sick Pay, Statutory Maternity Pay, and Pension Schemes (including auto enrolment, together with relevant terms and conditions of employment.
- Proven ability to work to timescales and project deadlines
- Experience of using a range of IT applications (e.g., Word, Excel,, Outlook, payroll and system reporting tools software. Excel capability must be extensive including ability to manage and marge data via look ups, pivot tables, linking and using calculation function tools
- Strong numerical skills in order to interpret financial data and undertake all calculations within a payroll.
- Excellent written communication skills in order to draft reports, correspondence, procedure documentation and briefing notes often of a complex and sensitive nature
