Role Description:
The HR Officer is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the company’s Human Resources function by planning, implementing and evaluating employee relations and Human Resources policies, programs and practices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide a full recruitment service including identifying requirements, advertising strategy, overseeing the selection process, producing the employment offer and contract, and the induction of new staff;
- Support and give advice to staff and managers on all aspects of employment terms and conditions (salaries, benefits, contracts, immigration);
- Advise on performance management and handle case work. Interpreting and advising on employment law;
- Manage the overall performance of the HR function by proposing solutions and participating in improvement projects, liaising with the company’s executive team at all times;
- Work closely with various departments, increasingly in a consultancy role, assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures;
- Developing and implementing policies on issues like working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures and absence management;
- Developing and updating the company staff handbook;
- Advising on pay and other remuneration issues, including promotion and benefits;
- Managing any investigations, grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures;
- Developing HR planning strategies, which consider immediate and long-term staff requirements;
- Planning, developing and delivering staff training on various topics;
- To maintain and update the HR system, electronic files and employee personnel files;
Person Specification:
- Qualified or working towards CIPD level 5 or above;
- Previous experience in a similar HR role;
- Up to date knowledge on employment law with the ability to interpret and explain;
- Organisational skills and the ability to understand detailed information;
- IT and numeracy skills;
- Interpersonal skills to form effective working relationships with people at all levels;
- Integrity and approachability;
- Influencing and negotiating skills to implement personnel policies.
