About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and focused HR Manager to join our small HR team providing a high-quality human resources service to the management team and employees of The Lowry. The role will report into the Head of HR and will cover HR strategy and business objectives, recruitment and onboarding, HR policy and procedures, employee relations, training and development and HR data and systems. The successful candidate will be CIPD qualified to level 5 or above, have excellent knowledge of employment law and have previous experience within a HR generalist role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise managers and employees regarding terms and conditions of employment in line with company policies and procedures and employment legislation.
- Undertake, advise and assist in the preparation of ER cases including investigatory, disciplinary, grievance and appeal hearings in line with company policies and procedures, acting as company representative as required.
- Assist in reviewing, writing and updating HR policies and procedures when necessary.
- In conjunction with the Head of Human Resources write and deliver HR training to managers and employees.
- Working with the Head of HR and the EDI Manager to develop and deliver The Lowry’s Diversity, Equality and Inclusion strategy.
- Champion employee health and wellbeing, promoting current best practice and influence, shape and implement The Lowry’s annual wellbeing programme.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise and manage projects effectively and deal with numerous projects concurrently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of personal integrity displaying tact, diplomacy, empathy and sensitivity with the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Strong team player who enjoys working together as a HR team to achieve objectives whilst also having the ability to act independently exercising personal initiative.
- Ability to build great rapport and relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- A passion for and experience of training, developing, engaging and coaching others.
- Knowledge and understanding of up-to-date employment legislation and Codes of Practice.
- Knowledge of a range of recruitment and selection tools.
- Knowledge of training and development methods.
- Knowledge of health & safety legislation.
- CIPD qualified (level 5) or above.
- Experience of attending meetings including disciplinary and recruitment interviews.
- Proven track record in monitoring, reporting and improving team performance and efficiency.
- Experience updating company policies and procedures.
- Computer literate with ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience using a personnel software system.
