Job Title: Housing Officer

Salary: £36,124 – £37,938 per annum
Job type: Full Time, permanent
Working hours: 37.5 per week (banking 30 minutes per week to be used towards the shut down between Christmas and New Year)

We are looking to recruit three Housing Officers to work full-time on permanent contracts.
Harlow Council is on a mission to transform Harlow’s housing. As a Housing Officer you will work as part of a team responsible for management of the councils housing stock, ensuring that customers are given help and support in sustaining their tenancies. You will be directly responsible for the people and property service delivery of areas such as:
- Dealing with breaches of tenancy conditions.
- Responding to reports of anti-social behaviour, including working with our partner agencies to take effective action to tackle unacceptable behaviour.
- Carrying out tenancy audits, ensuring we understand the needs of our tenants, and addressing any issues arising
- Dealing with tenancy related issues including successions, assignments and estate related incidents in line with relevant Housing law and the Councils policies.
- Assisting residents with enquiries regarding their tenancies and leases and providing support where required.
- Engaging with customers and encouraging their involvement in decisions relating to the Housing Service.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring service standards are achieved and high levels of customer satisfaction are maintained. A good working knowledge of housing management, experience in social housing or the voluntary sector and a qualification in housing or a related subject would be advantageous together with an understanding of current Housing Legislation and experience of landlord and tenant working. Good knowledge of statutory responsibilities and clear understanding of equality issues in relation to service delivery is required.
You will possess excellent people skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically at all levels and have a proactive and solution focused approach to problem solving. You will also have good administration and IT skills and be able to work effectively within a pressurised, customer focused environment.
You will need to be available to work or attend meetings outside of normal working hours. A driving licence and access to a vehicle or other satisfactory means of transport is required for this post.
