About the Role:
This post provides a high-quality cleaning and laundry service for the residents of Alexandra House and Alexandra Court. The cleanliness and hygiene of the residents’ rooms and communal areas is important to the health and well-being of our residents and to the general appearance of our facilities. Excellent cleaning standards are required to maintain the health of our residents.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- To collect linen skips from corridors, then wash, dry and iron bed linen, towels, underwear and top clothes
- To repair any damage or wear to clothing or bed linen and label clothing
- Put away clean laundry in linen room and clothing in residents’ rooms
- Leave laundry area clean and tidy
- Making and changing residents’ beds, cleaning their rooms regularly and deep cleaning rooms between residents
- Ensuring safe disposal of yellow bags in bathrooms, sluice etc
- To keep accurate stock records and inform the Cleaning Supervisor when stocks of cleaning / laundry materials require replenishment
- Replacing sundry toiletry items such as toilet rolls, soap, etc
- To adhere to Health and Safety regulations and COSHH Regulations
- To help the residents maintain their dignity and independence
- To maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness in all communal areas of the building; to include lounges, corridors, bathrooms and dining rooms
- Any other duties as required for the efficient running of the laundry/domestic function
General Requirements:

Person Specification:
- An enhanced DBS check will be taken up for the successful candidate.
- Cleaning experience in a similar environment is desirable
- Awareness of infection control measures
- Awareness of health and safety
- A caring person who is sensitive to the needs of older vulnerable people and who can engage with and communicate with a diverse range of people
- Able to work independently and within a team
- A positive can-do attitude
- Shares the values of SJMT
