Great Walstead School is a delightful independent standalone prep school for boys and girls aged 2 ½ to 13 set in 260 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside. We have a proud record of feeding many of the top day and boarding schools in the South East, with a large proportion of leaving students achieving scholarships and awards.
The Role:
This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of our excellent team who are very supportive and friendly and always have the children’s happiness at the heart of everything they do. Set in a beautiful rural location our stimulating classrooms and large outdoor learning space provide an exciting environment where children can achieve their full potential. The children spend lots of time, exploring our extensive grounds which include, woods, fields, streams and our secret garden to enhance learning and create a unique child led curriculum.
We have shifts available for 7.30 am – 1pm and 1pm – 6 pm, holiday time (9 weeks in the summer, 3 weeks at Easter, 2 weeks in October and 1 week at both February and Christmas) with extra hours and bank shifts also possible. Salary is competitive and according to qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- Working with small groups of children (ages 2.5 – 9 years) in adult directed activities
- Helping prepare for each session eg. Setting out toys, photocopying, collecting materials
- Serving breakfast and daily snacks
- Ensuring The Keep is kept clean and tidy
- Making use of the beautiful grounds for some activities
To be successful in the role you will have/be:
- Relevant Education. Level 3 qualification, or higher
- Sensitivity and caring to the needs of young children
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to work as part of a team
- The commitment to work a minimum number of sessions each holiday
