Job Title: HGV / Motor Vehicle Mechanic

Are you a time served qualified Motor Mechanic?
They are looking for someone to work in their busy workshop facility. They maintain and service a large range of vehicles (from specialist LGV municipal vehicles to vans) and over 200 pieces of plant equipment (from ride on grass mowers to leaf blowers).
The Role:
Conduct duties under the supervision of the Operations Manager (Transport) to provide vehicle and plant maintenance, to include fleet servicing and MOT testing.
Job Duties:
Maintain and repair vehicle/plant fleet in accordance with legislation:
- Vehicle and Plant Safety Inspections & Servicing. Carry out scheduled safety inspections and servicing on a varied fleet of vehicles and plant, including LGV’s, vans, 4×4’s, specialist municipal vehicles and items of horticultural plant and equipment
- Vehicle Plating and Testing. Prepare vehicles to the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency legislative standards prior to annual plating and testing
- Vehicle and Plant Maintenance & Repairs. Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs on a varied fleet of vehicles and plant, including LGV’s, vans, 4×4’s, specialist municipal vehicles and items of horticultural plant and equipment
- Welding. Carry out welding repairs using oxy-acetylene, electric arc and M.I.G approved methods
- Accident and Bodywork Repairs. Undertake general accident and bodywork repairs, to include the fitting of replacement vehicle body panels, repainting, and vehicle refurbishments
- Diagnostic and Recording Equipment. Fitters to use all available recording equipment and diagnostic equipment
Conduct MOT testing:
- Class 4 and 7 MOT Testing. Carry out class 4 and 7 MOT testing in accordance with the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency legislative standards
Vehicle Fitter Administration:
- Complete job cards (including accountability of parts, consumables and lubricants), time-sheets, and safety inspection/service sheets using all available recording equipment
Customer Service:
- Liaison with internal customers regards vehicle and plant repairs, to include providing technical advice and assistance when required
- Liaise with members of the public in regards to MOT testing
- Liaison with vehicle/plant equipment suppliers and manufacturers
Key Requirements:
Essential
- Experience in the servicing and maintenance of vehicles
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in automotive/LGV mechanical engineering
- Commitment to personal development
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to recognise and manage pressure and deadlines
- Remain flexible in order to contribute towards optimum Service delivery
- Excellent customer care skills
- Ability to act on own initiative
- Ability to complete job related administration tasks (written and electronic recording)
- A valid full UK driving licence
