Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 dependant on experience

Role Overview:

As Head of Technology you will have the opportunity to use your strong leadership skills, technical expertise and customer centric mindset to ensure the successful execution of the company’s strategic objectives.

You will lead the decisions across their global technology teams focused on Web Development, Backend Services and APIs, Testing and Deployment Automation and Order Flow and IT.

Passionate about agile development and implementation, you will drive a culture of technical excellence, efficiency and stakeholder engagement across the technology teams. Adept at interpreting stakeholder requirements into practical technical solutions, you will act as a champion for Technology and for them with a range of internal and external stakeholders at both organisation and group level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Hold the overall vision of their technical stack and identify opportunities to derive efficiencies and reduce operating costs by leveraging the micro-services architectural concepts
• Lead your teams to reduce technical debt and ensure all applications built are scalable, secure, performant and resilient
• Own the overall Technology roadmap, distributed across cross functional teams, supporting the Product Owners to manage dependencies, remove roadblocks and identify bottlenecks
• Assist Squad Leads with applications architecture definition
• Work collaboratively with third party development teams to conceptualise scalable and cost-efficient software solutions
• Promote a Test-Driven Development culture in order to enable efficient CD/CI pipelines
• Be a security role model within the technology organisation promoting good security hygiene from the ground up with software development teams
• Work in collaboration with the group security team to enforce and nurture a basic security baseline within the business

The successful Candidate will have:

• The ability to manage and deliver on time cross functional programmes built in complex, distributed and best in breed enterprise technologies
• The ability to interpret business requirements into feasible technical solutions
• A data driven mindset, ensuring that applications delivered generate the correct ROI
• The ability to manage work in an Agile and Iterative manner across multiple teams
• Experience of running Agile SCRUM teams
• Full understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Database design skills for both relational and non-relational
• Knowledge of automated testing and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment process and API management
• Working knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts and technologies (preferably Snowflake, Looker, ETL tools and Kinesis pipelines)
• Working knowledge of security management for web applications
• Web Application Firewalling and how to manage OWASPTop10 risks
• Strong knowledge of cloud application design principles
• An understanding of website architecture
• An understanding of network designs, especially AWS VPCs, private and public subnetting It would be great if they brought experience of the following:
  • Experience in e-commerce would be a plus. SEO optimisation, UX optimisation, CRO and analytics experience
  • Knowledge of Java, NodeJs, Python and React environments would be useful
  • Experience with AWS services. Ideally hold an AWS certification like SysOps or Solutions Architect
